Former Lagos State PDP chairman and ex-Tinubu ally Moshood Salvador has joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), pledging to work toward defeating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general election as political alignments intensify.
Salvador, a former House of Representatives member and leader of the Conscience Forum, defects from the Labour Party (LP)—where he moved from the APC before the 2023 election—alongside thousands of group members across Lagos State’s 20 local government areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas.
The move, celebrated at a ceremony at Salvador’s Tower in Surulere, sees him welcomed by ADC chieftains, including national secretary and former Osun State governor Rauf Aregbesola and ex-lawmaker Rahman Owokoniran.
Salvador explained that the shift stems from the LP’s diminished relevance due to internal crises, stating, “Any right-thinking person would see that the new wave in town is the coalition, that is why we joined the ADC.”
He urged the Conscience Forum’s over 400,000 members to register with the ADC, marking the group’s 25th anniversary with this strategic realignment.
Aregbesola criticized the APC government, highlighting a soaring cost of living under President Tinubu’s policies, including rising food prices. “APC must go because it has turned our lives upside down. It has imposed hardship on us,” he declared, urging Nigerians to vote out the party.
Owokoniran echoed this, asserting the ADC stands as the only viable opposition to liberate the country, dismissing the PDP’s electoral readiness.
